Event Description
What is the Zone of Proximal Development and what does it have to do with Therapeutic Assessment (TA)? Why is scaffolding important in Extended Inquiries, and how can clinicians get better at taking half-steps? How did Luria and Vygotsky influence TA, and is there any relationship between their work and that of Constance Fischer? In this 90-minute webinar, Stephen Finn will answer all these questions and lay out a rationale for dynamic assessment methods that are rigorous, yet tailored to individual clients. Two videos will demonstrate Finn’s scaffolding and collaboration with two TA clients during cognitive and personality testing. This presentation is intended for beginning and experienced psychological assessors who want to improve their understanding and practice of Therapeutic Assessment.

This webinar is based on Finn’s closing lecture at the 2nd International Collaborative/Therapeutic Assessment Conference (September 2017, Austin, TX). The 90-minutes will comprise a 70-minute lecture followed by 20 minutes of live Q and A. After registration closes (November 30, 2019), we will send all registrants a You Tube video link to watch the video. You will have the week of December 1, 2019 to watch the video at your convenience and then a live Q and A is scheduled Friday, December 6th, 2019 from 12-12:20 CST. After the Q and A the link will no longer be available.
