*Owners (as defined by DBIA) are the individuals who work for organizations that control the design and construction processes, such as a government agency, academic institution, non-profit organization, private facility owner, etc. Owners decide what gets built, when it gets built and how it gets built, so their role in design-build is critical.

Steve Lafferty, AIA
Steve is passionate about every Project undertaken, focusing on unique opportunities to create environments that facilitate impacts upon people’s lives. He currently serves as the Director of Design and Construction for the University of South Florida. Licensed as an Architect (nationally certified & licensed in many states), Interior Designer, Project Management Professional, Accredited Professional for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEEDap bd+c) and holds an MBA. Steve has personally managed projects (many of them award-winning) ranging from $5,000 to well over $500 million in construction cost and spanning almost every type of Project delivery scenario. This experience has resulted in an uncommon wisdom: a broad business sense, an acute sensibility towards design and the ability to create a powerful synergy when working with a terrific team.
His successes have been through a deep internal commitment to excellence, sensitivity to relationships, and a design philosophy that is centered on the users of the Project rather than the Project itself.
Randy is a graduate of the University of Florida Rinker School of Construction Management and a Florida Certified General Contractor. In 1971, Randy joined R.R. Simmons Construction Corporation working with his father to expand the family-owned company’s services and geographical presence. Today, Randy serves as Chairman of the Board of the R.R. Simmons’ group of companies. R.R. Simmons provides comprehensive design/build services for public and private sector clients in the structured parking, office, industrial, and sport sectors.
