Purpose of Position
The Natural Areas Association (NAA) is a nonprofit communications and outreach organization that seeks to expand and strengthen its fundraising efforts through donor cultivation and corporate sponsorships.
Working in tandem with the ED, this sales-oriented, externally focused fundraising position is responsible for securing sponsorships for NAA events, developing and managing all giving programs as well as implementing and evaluating strategies for donor programs and events.
Key responsibilities include identifying prospective sponsors, donor data maintenance and analytics, management of annual giving campaigns, and collaborating on collateral materials. Of key importance is the ability to work with the Executive Director and other staff on strategic messaging.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a small, dedicated team to take the organization to a new level in a work environment that stresses collaboration and mutual support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

GIVING PROGRAMS & PROGRAM SPONSORSHIP
Solicit and secure monetary sponsorships for the Natural Areas Conference and NAA digital programming, including webinars, lectures, roundtables and symposia. This includes the creation of written proposals and follow-up reports to engage repeat or multi-year sponsorship commitments.
Initiate and implement the NAA’s donor cultivation program. This includes cultivation of members, identifying potential members and executing events for the program. This may include travel.

Coordinate existing giving programs including the annual giving campaign, planned giving and monthly giving and cultivate prospective and current donors through a variety of techniques including one-on-one meetings, special events, direct mailings, donor communication and follow up.
Work with the ED to research and complete applications for grants available to NAA. Previous grant writing experience is a plus.

NEW FUNDRAISING
Work with ED to identify new prospects for all types of giving.
In conjunction with the ED, develop and execute additional fundraising initiatives throughout the fiscal year (outside of existing events/programs).
In conjunction with the ED, develop corporate sponsorship strategies to include research, feasibility, donor recognition, and acknowledgement.

MAJOR GIFTS AND CAMPAIGNS
In conjunction with the ED, design major gift and capital strategies to include prospect research, feasibility studies, creative fund development programs, donor stewardship, acknowledgement and recognition.

ADMINISTRATION
Maintain accurate gift records, incorporating records from past years to provide complete giving histories and profiles. This includes coordinating data entry and donor recognition for all donor gifts.
Review, evaluate and revise event and program sponsorships and update the sponsorship brochure yearly.


Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree from a college or university; five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; proven success in managing fundraising campaigns, developing sponsorship programs, cultivating new donors, and grant writing.

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as sponsorship agreements and grant requirements. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of stakeholders.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions and percentages. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and decimals to practical situations.
Computer Skills
Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Workspace; and donor database proficiency strongly preferred;
Other Skills, Abilities or Qualifications
Must be available to work events that may occur outside of regular work schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. Attention to detail is extremely important in this position.

Physical Demands:
Normal office duties as performed at a desk (may require long periods of sitting and computer typing). Ability to carry equipment up to 20lbs.

Work Environment:

Approximately 99+% indoor office work and less than 1% work outdoors. Office work is primarily sitting at a desk with a computer or in meetings.
