The Pinery Water and Wastewater District is seeking a Water Utility Worker to assist in the operation and maintenance of the water distribution system and our district facilities. The District is a water and wastewater service provider located in eastern Douglas County dedicated to providing \"Quality Water for LIFE\" to nearly 15,000 customers in the Pinery community of Parker, Colorado.
Summary:
The Pinery Water & Wastewater District is in search of an experienced Wastewater Operator that could potentially become our Lead Operator. This is an exceptional opportunity for the selected candidate to apply their wastewater treatment knowledge while absorbing the Pinery staff\'s combined 70 years of facility experience. The right candidate will not only possess a solid wastewater background, but also demonstrate a positive attitude and be excited to learn from our close nit team. This candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to our upcoming improvement projects planned for the Plant over the next 1 - 5 years.
The Pinery Wastewater Treatment Facility is a Bardenpho Nutrient Removal water reclamation facility with capacity to treat 2.0 MGD, followed by tertiary water treatment filters for enhanced chemical phosphorous removal. Our Operators perform skilled work in the operation, maintenance, and laboratory testing of our water reclamation systems. We ensure maximum efficiency of facility equipment utilizing preventative, predictive and emergency maintenance while taking great pride in facility cleanliness and appearance.
Day Shift - Monday through Friday. 7:00 am - 3:00 pm.

General job duties include, but are not limited to:
Operations:
-Using laboratory data, visual observations, SCADA information, online sensors and analyzers, gauges, and graphs, suggests or makes adjustments to the wastewater treatment facility operations, including flow and wasting rates, chemical feed rates, aeration rate, and mixing cycles.
- Develops and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operation of wastewater facilities.
Laboratory (experience preferred):
- Samples and analyzes raw and treated wastewater; prepares standards and solutions; maintains and calibrates analytical equipment, bench and online. Prepares and delivers samples to contracted lab of time sensitive required lab testing.
- Performs basic and advanced water quality tests to ensure compliance with regulations. TSS, COD, MLSS, MF Coliform testing, process control and nutrient testing, Nitrate, Nitrite, Ammonia and Phosphorous testing using HACH products, sensors, and equipment.
- Prepares graphs, tables, charts, and reports using data compiled to analyze facility performance, electronically files all bench lab sheets and data entry into the District database system.
Other:
- Complies with District employee manual and safety policies. Actively participates in safety
programs and ensures that the proper use of safety equipment and that safety procedures are
followed.
- Responds to all SCADA alarms in a timely manner.
- Participates in on-call rotation responding to emergencies at the wastewater facility in
collections system.
- Assists in maintenance activities as needed and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- State of Colorado Driver's License with an excellent driving record.
- State of Colorado - Class B Treatment Wastewater Operator License. (with the ability to obtain a
Class A within 6 months.)
- State of Colorado - Class 1 Collection Operator License. (or the ability to obtain in 1 year.)
- High School diploma or GED. Four to five years progressive experience in wastewater treatment
plant operations. A degree or certificate from a College, University, Vocational, or Technical
School is preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, experience and licensing.
- Must satisfactorily pass a criminal background check and a drug test prior to commencement of
employment.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Work is performed at a wastewater facility and outside, in the laboratory and in an office
environment. While performing work, one may be exposed to raw wastewater, dust, noise,
traffic and moving construction equipment, irritants, dirt, bacteria, hazardous
chemicals/air/materials, and fumes.
- Works indoors and outdoors in all-weather conditions and over all types of terrains. May be
exposed to risks typically associated with working around water, chemicals, electricity, and
other man-made hazards.
- Operates technological and mechanical equipment including but not limited to hand tools,
power tools, laboratory equipment and vehicles common to wastewater plant operations.
