Town of Morrison Utilities Department is seeking a Plant Operator. Plant Operators ensure reliable, clean, and safe drinking water to the Town of Morrison’s residents by operating a variety of equipment to maintain our water network. This is an opportunity to learn all aspects of the water and wastewater industry in a consistent and in-demand career field. There are multiple opportunities for advancement with additional certifications and years of experience. On the job training is offered to operate all equipment. Employees can expect consistent and regular hours with benefits. Water operators experience a new challenge each day and work together in a highly team-orientated environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
•Maintenance and repair of Utility Department infrastructure.
•Perform sampling and lab testing for operational control and compliance with CDPHE and EPA regulations.
•Perform additional sampling/testing as indicated by plant standards and performance.
•Effective communication with Public Works Director and other operators.
•Provide accurate log notes and proper documentation of plant operations.
•Perform chemical dosage/usage calculations.
•Perform water production/usage projections.
•Rotating of weekends, holidays and \"on-call\" shifts required.
•Additional duties as assigned.

EQUIPMENT USED
•Plant equipment including on-line and bench lab equipment, pumps, motors.
•Specialized equipment such as decanters and sludge de-watering equipment.
•Hand and power tools.
•Motorized vehicles such as trucks, Kubota tractor, and backhoe.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
•Indoor work includes exposure to liquid and dry chemicals. Exposure to operating machinery.
•Outdoor work during inclement weather conditions.
•Some indoor and outdoor conditions can require site assessment before entry and/or intervention.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: MODERATE
•Requires hand/eye and foot/eye coordination for operating machines including trucks, tractors, backhoe etc.
•Frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing less than 50 pounds.
•The ability to lift and carry objects weighing over 50 pounds.
•Often on your feet walking or standing to monitor treatment plant operations.



Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
•Minimum of a “D” water or wastewater certificate (prefer certification in both disciplines).
•Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED including coursework in Algebra, Biology, and Chemistry.
•Strongly recommend coursework in Water Quality Management.
•Construction, electrical, plumbing, and/or mechanical maintenance experience is helpful.
•Prefer prior experience in the water and/or wastewater industry.
•Knowledge of safety practices and requirements in the utility industry.
•Working knowledge of PCs, including software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
•Valid Colorado driver's license with a good driving record.

Salary/Wage Amount or Range:
20.00-34.00 an Hour
