The hiring range for this position is $22.88 - $28.61/hourly

This is classified as VHBE (Variable Hour Benefit Eligible), where the selected candidate will work up to 40 hours per week.  The selected candidate will be eligible to elect Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, accrue paid time off, and receive 11 paid holidays.

Aurora Water (AW) is growing and recently completed a new state-of-the-art facility that requires building oversight. The position prepares and maintains records, reports on work activities and equipment; performs a variety of repairs and installations (both interior and exterior) which may include, but are not limited to painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, roofing, floor repairs, concrete/masonry patching, and minor maintenance on HVAC equipment; operates or uses a variety of tools and equipment related to facilities maintenance and repair; may operate computerized control systems; maintains various records on equipment inventories and maintenance of such items including maintenance frequency, needed supplies/parts/materials; performs additional duties as assigned.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities ​

Build and support cross-functional relationships between divisions, internal partners and external vendors/contractors.
Deliver high quality work products.
Be responsive, courteous and customer service oriented.
Assist in maintaining daily operations of Aurora Water SEAM facility.
Provide vendor/contractor support and escort throughout the facility. Provide direction to vendors as needed and ensure vendors align with our policies and procedures
Monitor Building Automation System (BAS) alarms, investigate and troubleshoot issues, and reset system alarms.
Respond to mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC issues, investigate cause, remedy issue / coordinate contractor response.
Maintain dry fire suppression system.
Coordinate with service contractors to identify, diagnose, and repair issues.
Communicate effectively via phone, email and other written correspondence.
Provide excellent customer service to staff and colleagues; receive, log, prioritize, and coordinate requests received via work order, phone calls, and email.
Collect and maintain job related data and identify trends for improvement and provide necessary reports to management.
Coordinate and perform small office projects and maintenance.
Create and install facility signage as needed.
Performs additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Education

High School diploma or GED.

Experience

2 years demonstrated ability working in a fast-paced facilities and operations setting.

Knowledge

Knowledge of methods, techniques, tools and equipment used in performing a variety of building repair and maintenance functions, hazards and safety practices common to the construction industry.

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Knowledge of facilities and grounds maintenance practices.

Skills

Good communication skills to inform team members and stakeholders on the status of projects and tasks is a critical component of responsibilities.

General “handyman” skills.

Skill in operating vehicles and basic maintenance equipment.

Skill in the use of tools, specialized equipment common to building maintenance functions. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Strong customer service skills

Strong interpersonal skills

Skill in checking information for accuracy and completeness and correcting errors

Abilities

Strong time management and organizational skills are essential including the ability to set schedules to track and prioritize multiple tasks despite interruptions and changing/competing priorities.

Licenses and Certifications

Colorado Driver License with a good driving record.

Working Conditions

Essential Personnel:

When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.

Physical Demands:

Moderate to heavy physical work depending on assigned function; may require ability to lift a maximum of 100 pounds; may frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; considerable walking and standing; frequently performs activities requiring a full range of body movement including pushing, pulling, bending, stooping/crouching and climbing; considerable hand/eye and hand/foot coordination for operation of tools, equipment and vehicles; speech communication to give instructions and information to employees and customers/citizens; vision to read manuals and gauges and operate equipment; hearing/listening for instructions, troubleshooting and warning signals.

Work Environment:

Works both in and outdoors in office and shop environments with exposure to all weather conditions, noise, dust, fumes and chemicals.

Must be willing to perform overtime, standby, and/or call back duty.

Equipment Used:

Operates hand tools and equipment common basic facility and grounds maintenance.

Uses standard office equipment including personal computer and common office software such as email, internet, Word, and Excel

This position may require the incumbent to use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment
