4-Day Work Week - Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday schedule.

Operates road tractor/trailer in the operation of a biosolids management program. Intermittent operation of heavy equipment as required. Works under the direction of a supervisor and/or RR&R Lead Operator. Uses independent judgment in carrying out assignments.

Examples of Duties:
(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all of the tasks, which may be found in positions of this class.)

Duties listed below to be performed independently:

-Operates heavy road tractor with trailer and/or tandem dump trucks in the operation of a biosolids management program.
-Inspects, checks and services equipment with diesel, gasoline, oil and water, makes minor mechanical adjustments and emergency repairs. Maintains equipment in good physical condition and reports all mechanical defects.
-Follows Standard Operating Procedures for equipment.
-Records all pertinent data resulting from daily operations.
-Performs other related duties as assigned.


Duties listed below to be performed in a team environment with a RR&R Operator II or RR&R Lead Operator:

-Operates heavy equipment such as dozers, grader, loaders, and scrapers.
-Operates heavy road tractor with low boys for hauling heavy equipment.
-Operates agricultural equipment required in the biosolids management program such as biosolids application equipment, tractors, plows, cultivators, crop sprayers, and seeding equipment.
-Operates Giddings drilling equipment for soil sampling.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications

Valid Colorado and federal licenses and certification required to operate vehicles and equipment, in particular a Class “A” commercial driver’s license (CDL). Three years’ experience in the operation of tractor/trailer. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Knowledge of basic maintenance and emergency repairs. Ability to follow written and verbal instruction. Ability to maintain a variety of written logs/reports. Graduation from high school or GED.

Desired Qualifications

Five years’ experience in the operation of tractor/trailer. Heavy equipment operating experience on equipment such as dozers, graders, loaders and scrapers. Ability to recognize and report abnormal operating functions on equipment. Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with the farm community and the public in general. Working knowledge of computer systems.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; outdoor weather conditions; and vibration more than 2/3 of the time. The employee is exposed to fumes and airborne particles 1/2 to 2/3 of the time and to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and toxic or caustic chemicals less than 1/3 of the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit more than 2/3 of the time. The employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear 1/3 to 2/3 of the time. The employee is required to stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl less than 1/3 of the time. The employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds less than 1/3 of the time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
