The Office of Kentucky Nature Preserves is seeking a passionate and experienced conservation professional to join our team as the Pine Mountain Preserves Manager (Environmental Scientist III Merit). This role offers a unique opportunity to lead conservation efforts across some of the most ecologically significant landscapes in southeastern Kentucky, including Pine Mountain, Cumberland Mountain, Brush Mountain, and Stone Mountain.

-Salary: $3,845.56 - $5,768.44 Monthly (37.5-hour workweek)

About the Role:
The Pine Mountain Preserves Manager will oversee land management activities on State Nature Preserves and Heritage Lands, ensuring the protection and restoration of Kentucky\'s unique biodiversity. This position involves habitat restoration, prescribed fire operations, invasive species control, and ecological assessments. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in land management, and a commitment to conservation.
Key Responsibilities Include:
-Leading conservation and habitat management efforts across multiple preserves
-Conducting biological inventories and ecological assessments
-Managing prescribed burns, invasive species treatments, and rare species restoration
-Overseeing trail development, infrastructure projects, and land-use compliance
-Engaging with stakeholders, partners, and the public to advance conservation goals
Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a relevant field with three years of experience in natural resource management
-Experience with prescribed fire operations, invasive species control, and habitat restoration
-Strong communication and collaboration skills
-Ability to travel frequently and conduct physically demanding fieldwork
