DESCRIPTION:December 2025 IPA Webinar:  Understanding the Federal and State Advocacy Landscape\n\n12/19/25 12:00 PM EST\n - 12/19/25 01:00 PM EST\Description:\nIPA 2025 Webinar Series\n1.0 Hour of Category I CE credit\nFriday, December 19, 2025 at Noon\n\nRegistrants will receive further information for participating via Zoom Webinar for the presentation.\n\nUnderstanding the Federal and State Advocacy Landscape\nThe APA Advocacy team provides participants interactive training in federal advocacy skills and how to be effective advocates for psychology in their own communities. The presentation to IPA will include:\n\n\n	Overview of federal and state funding issues.\n	Overview of mental health licensing issues.\n	Overview of range of advocacy actions and how policymakers interpret them.\n	Q&A\n\n\nLearning Objectives:\nBy completing this program, participants will able to:\n1.   Describe at least 3 actions one can undertake while engaging in advocacy.\n2.   Describe at least 1 federal or state funding mechanism for psychological services.\n3.   Identify at least 1 policy issue pertaining to state mental health services licensing.\n\nPresenter Bio: Alix Ginsberg, MPH, Deputy Chief of State Advocacy, aginsberg@apa.org \nAlexandra “Alix” Ginsberg, MPH, is the Deputy Chief of State Advocacy at the American Psychological Association. For over a decade, Ginsberg has advanced key psychology workforce priorities on Capitol Hill, including increased federal support for psychology education and training and access to high-quality mental and behavioral health services for at-risk populations. Ginsberg supports strategic advocacy initiatives for APA, including its grassroots work and the Psychology PAC. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Syracuse University, and Master’s in Public Health from the George Washington University.\n\nAlix Ginsberg\n \nPresenter bio:  Deborah Baker, JD, Head, Office of Professional Legal and Regulatory Affairs, dbaker@apa.org\nDeborah C. Baker, JD is the Head of the Professional Legal & Regulatory Affairs Office for the American Psychological Association. She works with APA leadership and members, state psychological associations, regulatory bodies and external stakeholders on a variety of issues involving telehealth and digital therapeutics, HIPAA compliance and patient data security and scope of practice/licensure including prescriptive authority and interjurisdictional practice.\nMs. Baker has provided support to several APA task forces in developing association policies, such as the current revision to the APA Model Licensure Act for Psychologists, the 2024 APA Guidelines on the Practice of Telepsychology, APA Guidelines for the Use of Social Media and APA policies on prescriptive authority for psychologists and designation of psychopharmacology training programs.  She received her BA from the University of Virginia and her law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law.  She is licensed in both Washington DC and Virginia.\n\nDeborah Baker\n\n\nSpecial Note to Conference Attendees\nThe Indiana Psychological Association (IPA) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.
