Event Name:Wind Farm Tour
Description:Please join the IWEA Electrical Powr, Energy and Controls Committee for a tour of the Fowler Ridge Wind Farm.

The Wind Farm is located in the Benton County, Indiana. Spread over 50,000 acres, it is one of the largest onshore wind farms in the world. The plant is owned and operated jointly by BP Alternative Energy North America and Dominion Resources with each having a 50% stake in it. The FRWF has an installed capacity of 750MW, which meets the power consumption requirements of 200,000 average American homes.

Registration price is $10.00. Those wishing to walk up to the turbine have a signed Waiver Form.

Details:Our tour guide, Harry, will greet our group at the Benton County Annex Center, 410 South Adeway, Gowler IN 
Tour starts at 10:00 AM. Please arrive at the latest 9:45 am EST, have a donut and a cup of coffee and have your forms ready.

Tour Agenda:
  1. Video Presentation of the turbine installations.
  2. Visit and Photo Opportunity next to an actual turbine blade.
  3. Harry will lead a driving tour to a completed turbine, a sub-station, and two different types of turbines across from one another.
  4. For those who wish to walk up to the turbine, Benton county Economic Development requires a signed waiver for each person.The waiver needs to be handed to Harry that day. For those who wish not to sign a waiver, they will still go to the turbine but will have to view it from the vehicle they arrived in. Only those with a signed waiver will get to walk up to the turbine.
Tour should last approximately 2 -2 ½ hours.
