Event Description
The Joint Meeting of the Ohio River Basin Consortium for Research & Education and the Ohio River Basin Alliance will be held on the main campus of Thomas More University on Oct. 17-19.
The theme is: "Partnerships and Collaborations toward a Single Voice for the Ohio River Basin." (Co-Hosted by F.O.R.E., ORSANCO and the TMU Biology Field Station.)
 
The Program includes:
  •          Field Trips to USEPA, GCWW, SD1 and MSD’s facilities, as well as NKU and TMU’s Field Stations and the Fernald Nature Preserve
  •          Plenary Speaker Rob Bilott, an environmental lawyer and recipient of 2017 laureate of the Right Livelihood Award, widely known as the "alternative Nobel Prize."
  •          Panel Sessions featuring:
    •    USACE: Mike Saffran
    •    USEPA: Chris Nietch
    •    USFW: Donovan Henry
    •    USGS: Pete Cinotto
    •    OKI: Robyn Bancroft
    •    ORBA, ORBCRE and Marshall University: Chuck Somerville
    •    ORSANCO: Richard Harrison
    •    SD1: Matt Wooten
  •          Over 30 Concurrent Research Talks and Posters, covering a wide range of ecological, educational and environmental topics, including:
o   Conservation, Restoration & Protection Plans for Threatened Species & Critical Habitats
o   Flood Control & Risk Reduction Challenges
o   Effective Citizen Science
o   Harmful Algal Blooms
o   Invasive Species
o   the Quality & Quantity of Water Throughout the Ohio River Basin
