Jeff studied at the University of Florida, received a Bachelor of Design in Architecture, followed by a Master of Architecture from Columbia University and is a licensed Architect, and LEED Green Associate. He has a diverse, sometimes overlapping architectural background, including his private Architectural practice with his wife for over 15 years, teaching Interior Design at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale for 15 years and working for the last 24 years as an owner’s representative in the public sector. As a Project Manager, his award-winning Young at Art and Broward County Library building was the first Broward County project to use BIM and was the first LEED certified Gold Museum of any kind in Florida and one of only three in the nation in 2012. He is proud to be a Virtual Design and Construction and sustainability advocate, speaking on behalf of owners that see the benefits as well as the costs of preparing for the future.
- Discuss how early engagement of trade partners can drive a better understanding of how systems should be designed/constructed to reduce rework.
- Highlight how integrated design-build firms can gain efficiency beyond design, during the construction administration phase and through project closeout with a well-defined VDC process.
- Define how the use of technology can support better collaboration to solve problems up-front and drive cost effective solutions.
- Describe how a focus on digital deliverables and what the owner needs and when can allow for an improved lifecycle cost.
