Event Description

In this webinar, Shakthi Jayavelu, process engineer at World Water Works, Inc., will discuss DETOUR, an Anammox technology applied for mainstream processes. While Anammox treatment technologies have been proven effective in sidestream processes for nitrogen removal of high strength dewatered filtrate / centrate from anaerobic digestion, Anammox can also be implemented in mainstream treatment to meet stringent nitrogen limits while saving on both energy and external chemical usage. The DETOUR technology, developed in collaboration between the Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) and DC Water utilizes the Partial deNitrification Anammox (PdNA) process. The presenter will describe the technology and provide examples of how it helps wastewater treatment plants achieve very low effluent Total Nitrogen limits.
