Composer Bruce Rowland will be interviewed about how he wrote the iconic score for The Man from Snowy River in 1981 and about its original orchestration and recording.
The stunning piano-led Jessica’s Theme was the demo that secured Bruce the job in composing the full score.
The use of orchestra with a rhythm section gave audiences an action-packed ride through the mountains, a score that etched itself into a generation of movie-goers.
In 2023 Jessica Wells was invited to expand the original studio orchestrations for full orchestra to be performed live with a screening of the film. Bruce and Jessica will show examples of the original score and Jessica’s reworking, discussing how the click tracks were made for the live performance to picture, and how the live show was put together.
Music Arrangers Guild of Australia President Gregory Flood, who in a long working association with Bruce, worked on the original Snowy soundtrack and on Bruce’s iconic scores for Phar Lap and All the Rivers Run among a raft of other of Bruce’s projects, will host the seminar.
