About the Program
One of a meeting planner’s best skills is lifting ideas from other planners. It’s call parallel development! The MPI Indiana Spring Symposium will provide a plethora of ideas that you can copy, modify, and even call your own. Coach and consultant Dana Saal, CMP, CAE will start our list of ideas with Tactical Tips for Innovative Planners, featuring ways to inject life and fun into meetings—even the boring ones.
In Lightning Talks, eight presenters will have fewer than seven minutes to share a great idea that made an event amazing. We’ll think about them over lunch and then take a deep dive into what we learned, asking the presenters the hows and whys, while building on their ideas with our own.
Before we adjourn we will leverage the expertise in the room. Using a case study, small groups will brainstorm ways to improve an underperforming meeting and then share them with the group. You will leave inspired to think differently and creatively, and with a handful of ideas that your attendees will remember.

Dana L. Saal, CMP, CAE, Saal Meeting Consulting, has been planning meetings for associations for more than 30 years. She recently decided that coaching meeting planners is now more fun than proofing function sheets, counting coffee cups, and writing scripts.
Dana is an expert in the design and execution of association meetings, with a record of increased participant satisfaction and registrations. She is adept at identifying a challenge and discerning a solution, a skill she uses as a coach and consultant to guide association planners, planning committee members and executives as they design and execute their meetings.
She also speaks, teaches, and writes a blog, Dana's Meeting Minutes, for the Illinois Society of Association Executives.
