Northern Chapter VSCPA - Event Information

Event Name:Non-Profit SIG - Measuring Volunteer Impact so Funders Take Notice
Event Type(s):Special Interest Group Event
Description:Topic:  Measuring Volunteer Impact so Funders Take Notice

Most non-profits engage volunteers to better serve clients and assist with fundraising, but very few organizations measure the impact of their volunteer programs.
Assessing volunteer effectiveness is about more than the number of active volunteers or the dollar equivalent of hours contributed. These figures do not explain how volunteers helped deliver on the mission, nor do they demonstrate the return on investment from operating a volunteer program.  In this presentation, you will learn what’s needed to create metrics that assess the full impact of volunteer engagement.

Learn How to:
  • Quantify what an organization stands to gain from creating these metrics
  • Identify the staff most likely to perform the process
  • Assess volunteer impact as it relates to client service, staff capacity, and development
  • Identify the technology needed for assessing impact
  • Adapt the logic model to create the metrics most relevant to volunteer activity
Who will Benefit?
The session will benefit CFO’s. Executive Directors who seek new and effective ways to demonstrate mission delivery to funders, board members, and corporate partners. Only a handful of non-profits have created these types of metrics – doing so gives organizations a competitive edge in communicating effectiveness to stakeholders.
