IPA is proud to announce that the 2026 IPA Fall Conference will be 100% virtual.

Join us for our high quality lineup, presented over two days, offering 10 Category I Continuing Education presentations via live webinars.
Two national speakers will be presenting. Three sessions feature information about Artifical Intelligence (AI).
Attendees can earn up to 14 CE hours for live presentations.

Most presentations will later be available as homestudy programs. All registered will be eligible to earn homestudy credit, at no additional cost, via the eligible presentations they are not able to attend live.

Registered attendees will receive the webinar links and passwords for each presentation and the presentation slide sets (if able to be shared) via e-mail in the week prior to the conference.

The IPA Annual Awards will be presented virtually during the Annual Awards Presentations session on Friday at 1:15-1:45 pm ET.

Program Description:
Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the conditions in which psychological care occurs. Clients may arrive with AI-generated self-diagnoses. Documentation platforms may promise faster notes. Institutions may encourage adoption before standards are clear. Clinicians may feel pressure to keep up, avoid the topic entirely, or experiment quietly without a fully developed ethical stance. In this evolving landscape, psychologists face a critical question: how do we engage emerging tools without surrendering the clinical judgment, fiduciary care, and human presence at the heart of psychological practice?

This interactive workshop offers psychologists a practical, ethically grounded way to navigate AI-shaped practice. Rather than treating AI only as a technical trend or compliance issue, the workshop examines AI as a clinical-ethical context that affects judgment, documentation, client conversations, professional responsibility, and the therapeutic relationship.

Participants will explore the "human edge" of psychological practice: the non-outsourceable responsibilities of clinical authorship, disciplined discernment, relational accountability, and care for client welfare. Through case examples, polls, and brief clinical-ethical decision exercises, participants will learn to distinguish appropriate AI assistance from reliance, deference, and inappropriate transfer of clinical authority. They will also consider how to respond when clients use AI for reassurance, self-diagnosis, crisis support, relationship advice, or therapy-like interaction.

Participants will leave with a beginning framework for developing a defensible AI stance: one that supports thoughtful innovation while protecting ethical practice, clinical judgment, and the human center of care.

This presentation provides a comprehensive clinical and scientific overview of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based, standardized, eight-phase, clinician-led therapy. It will examine EMDR’s theoretical foundations, history, and treatment model, along with the empirical literature on its effectiveness and possible mechanisms. Current neurophysiological and neuroimaging findings will be reviewed, followed by clinical applications both within and beyond PTSD. Case examples and practical tips on training, referrals, and contraindications for clinicians will also be discussed.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy has been an evolving and increasingly popular therapy modality, with more mental health providers being trained each year. Despite its popularity, the established evidence base of the model is in its early stages and sometimes is called into question. This introductory workshop will address theoretical underpinnings of the model, explore the evidence base to date, and identify overlap with adjacent therapy models. It will also address specific interventions as well as how IFS can be incorporated with other therapy modalities. Finally, utilization of the model will be demonstrated through case examples.

Program Description:
Pediatric Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a chronic and impairing condition that, when left untreated, frequently persists into adulthood. This presentation provides an overview of the assessment and evidence-based treatment of pediatric OCD using Exposure and Response Prevention (EXRP), the gold-standard psychological intervention. Participants will review the nature and presentation of OCD, including common symptom subtypes, compulsions, avoidance, and family accommodation. The program will cover assessment, case conceptualization, treatment planning, psychoeducation, and the development and implementation of in vivo and imaginal exposures. The presentation will also discuss the emerging role of artificial intelligence (AI) in OCD treatment, including ethical considerations and practical applications to support psychoeducation, exposure practice, and patient engagement.

Grief is commonly defined as a deep sorrow and is typically associated with death. The onset of Covid-19 helped to expand our understanding of grief and loss to incorporate non-death loss and brought awareness of collective grief and bereavement. 

Over the last several years, many of us and those for which we care have been experiencing grief and loss both on an individual and collective level due to sociopolitical events in the United States and throughout the world. In this presentation, Dr. Henderson will highlight research on sociopolitical grief and offer strategies people can use to help themselves and those they love and care for

In this essential session for state leadership, a comprehensive overview of the rapidly evolving landscape of generative artificial intelligence in psychological practice. As past chair of the APA's Mental Health Technology Advisory Committee, Dr. Jackson will guide participants through the APA's Ethical Guidance for Professional Practice with Artificial Intelligence, breaking down critical considerations for privacy, clinical competence, and informed consent. The presentation will also address broader systemic issues, including  the role of AI in mental health equity, reimbursement challenges, and how state leaders can empower their members to leverage technology responsibly while protecting public safety.

Presenters will describe their approach to a meaning-making, recovery-oriented group therapy for family members with a loved one with serious mental illness. Included will be information related to SMI and family involvement in treatment, comparisons to the well-known NAMI family education group, and emergent themes from the pilot of this group as well as challenges and barriers. Finally, presenters will identify areas for future clinical and research directions.

Program Description:
The evolution of tattoos into powerful symbols of personal meaning has created a growing area of innovation in clinical practice. Once primarily associated with marginalized groups, gangs, incarcerated individuals, and military personnel, tattoos are now mainstream among all cultural groups, with nearly 30% of adults in the United States having at least one tattoo. As social attitudes have changed, tattoos have emerged as psychologically meaningful expressions of identity, life transitions, resilience, attachment, trauma, loss, values, and personal goals. Yet despite their prevalence and clinical significance, most psychologists have received little formal training in integration of tattoos into clinical practice. This presentation examines how both permanent and temporary client tattoos can be incorporated into psychotherapy. Permanent tattoos often reflect enduring aspects of identity, significant life experiences, memorials, values, recovery journeys and relapse prevention, while temporary tattoos can serve as flexible therapeutic tools for goal reminders, coping strategies, behavioral change, and experimentation with new identities or meanings. Participants will explore the current psychological significance of tattoos and learn approaches for integrating tattoo-related interventions throughout the therapeutic process—from assessment and case conceptualization to goal setting, issue processing, meaning-making, and relapse prevention. The program provides step-by-step guidance for incorporating both permanent and temporary tattoos into psychotherapy to deepen client engagement, enhance therapeutic insight, and support lasting therapeutic change.

Psychological reports aim to provide a tangible representation of a patient’s history, current functioning, and recommendations designed to support wellbeing and improve outcomes. As psychological and neuropsychological practice serves increasingly diverse populations, there is a growing need to develop reports that are not only timely and accessible but also culturally responsive and relevant to the individuals and communities they serve. Drawing upon culturally informed approaches such as Fujii's ECLECTIC framework, psychologists can better incorporate educational, linguistic, cultural, socioeconomic, and contextual factors into the interpretation and communication of assessment findings. 

At the same time, emerging advances in artificial intelligence are creating new opportunities to enhance report writing efficiency, readability, and personalization while raising important ethical considerations regarding accuracy, bias, transparency, and professional responsibility. This presentation will review common barriers that limit readers' understanding of psychological reports, describe strategies for improving accessibility and follow-through with recommendations for diverse audiences, and explore how culturally informed practices and responsible uses of artificial intelligence can strengthen the utility, equity, and impact of psychological assessment reports.

Program Description:
This workshop will provide a brief introduction to the various cultural framework models that have been proposed for implementation in psychological/behavioral interventions when working with multilingual/multicultural patients. Literature on implementation of these cultural frameworks with different clinical populations and diseases will be presented. Emphasis will be placed on a recent scoping review being considered for publication that evaluated the integration of cultural frameworks in evidence-based psychological interventions for Hispanic patients with a brain injury. Recommendations and future directions will be discussed, aiming at accomplishing integration of cultural frameworks in psychological interventions for improved patient-reported outcomes.

Learning Objectives:
By completing this program, participants will be able to:
  1. summarize the existing cultural adaptation models recommended for psychological interventions in the work with Hispanic patients.
  2. describe the state of the science in implementation of these cultural adaption models with various clinical populations.
  3. synthesize results from "Evaluating the Integration of Systemic Cultural Adaptation Frameworks in Psychological Care After a Brain Injury Scoping Review."
  4. Delineate recommendations for clinical research and practice for improved culturally-tailored psychological interventions and patient-reported outcomes.

The Indiana Psychological Association (IPA) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Indiana Psychological Association maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Attendees will be responsible for answering the presentation evaluations for the presentations attended. IPA will e-mail a link with a survey evaluation for each presentation to each registered attendee on the day of the event.

All licensees requesting Category I CE credits will receive a certificate from IPA confirming the number of credits earned for each session. These certificates will be delivered via email approximately 2-6 weeks after the conference. IPA will not produce any kind of "attendance" certificate for students.
