Jack Belcher, Principal, and VP

Jack Belcher joined Cornerstone in 2019 with over 30 years of experience in energy and energy policy. As a Principal, he provides strategic and tactical advice to energy and transportation companies and financial institutions, focusing on government relations, regulatory affairs, public policy, strategic communications, situational risk management, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance. Jack also serves as Managing Director of the National Ocean Policy Coalition.


Dr. Jay Golden, Director
Dynamic Sustainability Lab, Syracuse University

Dr. Jay Golden is the inaugural
Pontarelli Professor of Environmental Sustainability and Finance at Syracuse University. Dr. Golden is an internationally recognized researcher and academic of the dynamics of the global sustainability transition including risks, unintended consequences and opportunities. Golden was one of the first faculty members in the School of Sustainability at Arizona State University where he also founded and directed the National Center of Excellence on SMART Innovations . Golden later founded and co-directed the Sustainability Consortium, a leading academic-industry-government partnership on Corporate Sustainability with a membership of over 150 of the world’s leading manufacturers, retailers and brands. At Duke University, Dr. Golden was the faculty chair of the Business & Environment Program and Director of the Duke Center for Sustainability and Commerce.  Golden also served as Associate Vice Provost for Research and was appointed Executive-in-Charge of the Duke Corporate Relations Office working with global companies, CEOs and Boards. Golden was named Vice Chancellor and professor of sustainable engineering at East Carolina University a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina (UNC) system and later served as the President of Wichita State University.

David Planning joined Cornerstone’s federal government relations team as a Principal in April 2024. David brings with him significant experience in both the legislative and executive branches, where he has served as Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs, Staff Director for the House Committee on Small Business, Deputy Director of Coalitions and Member Services for the House Committee on Financial Services, Floor Assistant for then Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), Special Assistant to then Chief Deputy Whip Patrick McHenry (R-NC) and most recently as Floor Director for House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN).
