Water Plant Technician or Operator - Maryville, TN
Position Description:
The Water Plant Technician / Operator performs intermediate technical work in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant, taking samples, reading gauges and charts, performing routine tests, assisting to ensure proper plant operation, and maintaining records and files. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Chief Water Plant Operator. This is a night shift position working eight (8) consecutive days followed by six (6) days off.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Essential Functions of the Water Plant Technician
• Maintains and operates a water treatment plant; records readings from instruments; maintains records on plant operations; monitors levels and flows and makes appropriate adjustments.
• Assists with the maintenance and repair of plant equipment.
• Collects samples; performs laboratory tests in the absence of the Laboratory Technician.
• Handles chemicals and calculates correct dosage.
• Performs general custodial and grounds maintenance work.
Education/Experience/Skills Required:
Must have a H.S. diploma /GED and knowledge of the principles, practices, equipment and methods used in water treatment operations. Experience working in a water treatment plant and possession of Grade III or Grade IV Water Treatment Plant Operator certification preferred.
Salary:
Hiring range is $15.29 to $18.63 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
