This LVMPD position is housed in the Southern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center and performs a variety of analytical, investigative, technical, administrative, and research functions in support of the fusion center\'s mission. Incumbents perform analysis of behaviors associated with criminal activity, terrorism, and targeted violence. Incumbents may be assigned to offsite locations periodically to support multi-agency efforts. This position serves at the pleasure of the Sheriff and is not subject to the competitive requirements of the Civil Service Rules of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

This position closes on 28 AUG 2023 at 1500 hours Pacific.

Qualifications:
Best Candidates Will Have:
- A Bachelor's or graduate degree from an accredited college in Criminal Justice, Political Science, International Relations, Intelligence Analysis, Public Administration, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.
- Completed college or post-graduate level course work, and/or formal training by a federal, state, local, fusion center, or tribal governmental entity, in terrorism and homeland security issues, criminal intelligence analysis, and/or behavioral analysis.
- Ability to research information and intelligence pertaining to an assigned area of concern and producing relevant and timely analytical products on threats impacting southern Nevada.
- Ability to conduct briefings on threats to inform SNCTC public and private sector partners and decision makers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge in using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Training and/or experience in using computer programs commonly used in statistical and/or non-statistical analytical work.
- Ability to respond to requests for information from fusion center and law enforcement organizations and communicate courteously and effectively with all parties.
- Ability to work closely with detectives, analysts, specialists, outside agencies, and specialized investigative units by conducting tactical analytical support.
- More than three years of the above-stated work experience, including experience in relationship and predictive intelligence analysis, intelligence gathering/analysis on homeland security, intelligence gathering/collection on common criminal activity, research and analytical techniques to extract and present data, and preparing intelligence reports and products.
- A recent secret or top secret security clearance from a law enforcement, national security, or military entity at the federal level; or the necessary background to acquire such a clearance upon hire.

Comments:
In addition to the above, the following conditions apply to the position:
- Must obtain a secret security clearance within the first year of employment.
- Must shift adjust as needed.
- Be a citizen/naturalized citizen or permanent resident alien without conditions on status of the United States of America by the closing date of the announcement.
- Personal appearance: While on duty, and/or representing the Department, uniformed or otherwise, all Department employees will be neat and clean in their appearance in public. Employees are prohibited from attaching, affixing, or displaying objects, articles or jewelry on or through the nose, tongue, eyebrow or other exposed body part, except for the ears for females, while on duty. Employees are prohibited from stretching or "gauging" their earlobes. All jewelry implants will not be exposed or visible while on duty. Tattoos or branding will not be exposed or visible while on duty and/or representing the Department. Such markings must be covered by clothing. Markings that cannot be covered by clothing will be covered using makeup, neutral-toned bandages, or patches. Tattoos or branding anywhere on the body that promote racism/discrimination, indecency, extremist or supremacist philosophies, lawlessness, violence, or contain sexually explicit material are prohibited.
