Position Details

This is a highly responsible supervisory position that plans, coordinates, and directs projects and services within the Utility Operations Division. The Chief Plant Operator is responsible for the supervision, training, and assignment of personnel at the water treatment facility. This includes oversight of operational activities, compliance with regulations, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. This position serves as the Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) with the State of Colorado (CDPHE) and requires independent judgment in daily operations.

Position Qualifications

-Graduation from high school supplemented by coursework in water or wastewater plant techniques. -Minimum five years of experience in water or wastewater plant operations, including at least two years in a supervisory role. -Thorough working knowledge of all current and emerging state and federal regulations applicable to water/wastewater treatment facilities. -Thorough knowledge of the functions and servicing requirements of mechanical equipment and machinery in the water treatment or wastewater treatment plant. -Ability to plan, lay out, supervise and schedule the work of water or wastewater treatment plant personnel. -Ability to make detailed oral or written reports and to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. -Ability to maintain accurate plant records.
