Environmental Resources Coordinator

The Glenbard Wastewater Authority (“the Authority”) is recruiting for an experienced (full-time) Environmental Resources Coordinator with the essential duties of a Pre-Treatment Coordinator. This position will also assist in the Laboratory with various duties relating to permit testing. This is a highly visible, “high touch” position that demands superior customer service skills. The purpose of the position is to serve as the environmental regulatory specialist for applicable industrial, significant user sites, and food service facilities to ensure pretreatment compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local regulations; enforcement of member Village’s FOG (Fats, Oils and Grease) Ordinances; sizing and placement of grease traps and interceptors; conducting special investigations of industrial sites, overflows, and grease blockages; and entering data into the FOG and Monitoring Management System computer databases. The secondary functions of this position are to assist in conducting laboratory tests and analyses to monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations relating to the Authority’s NPDES permit and EPA Part 503 Biosolids Rule. Performs other related duties as assigned. Position reports directly to the Assistant Executive Director.

Plant Operator

The Glenbard Wastewater Authority (“the Authority”) is recruiting for one (1) full-time Plant Operator. This is a skilled, certified position responsible for operation and routine maintenance of a high purity oxygen activated sludge wastewater treatment facility. Employees perform duties related to the proper conveyance, pumping, metering, monitoring, and job duties associated with treatment and disposal of wastewater, sludge, and residues. These duties include the operation of preliminary, primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment, ultraviolet disinfection, and the sludge processing and dewatering treatment processes. Operators familiar with this process are encouraged to apply and operators who are not are encouraged to learn more about it before applying. Employees in the position will update and maintain operational maintenance work plans with full utilization of the Computerized Maintenance Management Software, and provide responsive, courteous, and efficient service to the residents of the Villages of Lombard and Glen Ellyn and the general public.
Employees in this class are classified at one of five levels: Plant Operator in Training, Plant Operator IV, Plant Operator III, Plant Operator II, Plant Operator I. Plant Operator I is the highest level. Classifications are largely based on level of Illinois Environmental Protection Agency wastewater certification level and years of experience. Employees may progress upward from Operator in Training to higher levels through a combination of years of experience, certification level with the state, and successful demonstration of plant knowledge for the level they are pursuing.

Maintenance Mechanic

The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the preventative maintenance, repair, and replacement related activities at its advanced treatment facilities, including work on plant machinery, conveyor systems, piping systems, buildings, vehicles, and grounds; and to provide responsive, courteous, and efficient service to the residents of the Villages of Lombard and Glen Ellyn and the general public. Applicants’ extent of experience and qualifications will determine which level of the Maintenance Mechanic role will be filled and which job functions listed below are applicable.
