Water Week 2023 is almost here! Water professionals from across the nation will be in Washington, DC, on April 25-26, 2023 for the National Water Policy Fly-In. This event is a collaboration between WEF, NACWA, WateReuse Association, and The Water Research Foundation. Water Week 2023 invites water professionals from across the nation to help advance key water policy priorities such as sustained growth in federal infrastructure investment, addressing water affordability, supporting water research & development and advancing sound science-based solutions, and making our critical infrastructure more resilient. This webcast will help participants prepare for Water Week 2023 events and include: an overview of the Fly-In and our request to Congress; instructions on setting up and having successful congressional meetings; and tips on social media and other ways to carry our message to a broader audience.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes are increasingly used to capture and manage information to design and construct water utility facility assets. BIM 3D models are used by designers and can help water utility owners visualize design concepts while the associated databases store detailed project information as it is created. Contractors utilize BIM for clash detection, construction sequencing, and cost cash flow throughout construction. This BIM use during design and construction is often not visible to water utility owners, and these agencies are seeking ways to leverage the BIM models for their long-term use after the construction of the project is complete. This requires the establishment of BIM coordination requirements and protocols if consistent standards are to be applied for the BIM used in their projects. This webinar will explore the benefits achieved and lessons learned by four utilities that have established programs to leverage BIM for their projects considering the long-term value in asset onboarding, training, and future facility design and construction.

Whether mitigating the effects of storms or droughts, meeting the demands of regulators, or managing spiraling costs, smart water management is essential to the health of U.S. municipalities. In this webinar, ENGIE’s Thomas Monter will be joined by Elaine Marshall, Deputy Director of Public Works at the City of Milpitas, California, to outline how holistic, smart city solutions can connect and automate water and energy infrastructure to drive sustainability and deliver cost savings.

This webinar will show how Milpitas unlocked over $1.5 million in annual energy and water cost savings through citywide infrastructure upgrades and explore how municipalities can leverage a variety of technologies like SCADA systems, pump and treatment retrofits, and advanced metering.
