This operator training provided by WEF will present the theory and practice of activated sludge reactor and secondary clarifier operation with particular focus on achieving nitrification and denitrification.  The topics covered will be supplemented with hands-on computer-based simulation of a virtual treatment plant to allow participants to make process control changes to achieve target results.  At the completion of this training, attendees will understand the key principles and activated sludge nitrogen removal and how process simulation can be used to assist process control decision-making.  Computers with a process simulator will be available for participants to use for the course.

The RMSAWWA/RMWEA Student Conference is a forum for students to present water-related research and design projects to an audience of science and engineering professionals. The conference fosters networking among students, engineering and consulting firms, local utilities, and university faculty within the Rocky Mountain region. We are soliciting abstracts on student research to be presented at the conference. Undergraduate and  graduate students are encouraged to submit an abstract on research activities  with which they are directly involved. This can include graduate research, laboratory studies, fieldwork, class projects, and/or modeling.
