Make plans to attend the 70th Michigan Onsite Wastewater Conference, January 11-12, 2022. This virtual two-day educational conference is designed for septic tank service providers/pumpers, portable toilet service companies, local public health, engineers, consultants, installation contractors and other interested parties. Learn the latest in onsite wastewater industry trends, regulatory changes, wastewater management options and the latest technologies.

The theme this year is “Professional Onsite Wastewater Management,” providing increased knowledge and information on the issues related to the Onsite Wastewater Management industry. The conference offers a total of 28 hours of content and an opportunity to earn Continuing Septage Education Credits (pending approval from the state).

This virtual conference features three (3) concurrent tracks where participants will hear key updates from EPA, EGLE and national organizations, and join sessions covering a broad range of topics including:
  • regulatory permitting structure,
  • basic and advanced concepts of onsite treatment,
  • high strength wastewater issues,
  • pumps and pump stations,
  • fate of nutrients in onsite systems,
  • sludge dewatering techniques,
  • Part 117 and agronomic loading rate for septage,
  • confined space issues,
  • new onsite funding streams,
  • soil properties and much, much, more.

Individuals can register at a cost of $135 per person. Groups of two or more are eligible for reduced rates of $90 for each person beyond the first. Registration is free for full-time students enrolled in a college, university, trade school, or high school. To learn more, view a detailed agenda or register, visit https://events.anr.msu.edu/MOWC22/.

This event is organized as a joint venture by the Michigan Septic Tank Association (MSTA), the Michigan Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association (MOWRA), the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE), the Michigan Environmental Health Association (MEHA) and Michigan State University (MSU).

The conference will be administered by MSU this year.  If you have any questions about this conference, please contact Betsy Braid at braidbet@msu.edu.
