Friday, July 29, 2022, will mark the 5th Annual Rocky Mountain Water Environment Association’s (RMWEA) Operations Challenge Regional Competition to be held at Metro Water Recovery Facility.  Please use the south entrance located at 5950 York Street, Denver.

Physical events will start at 9:30 a.m. and go until 3:00 p.m. Three Operations Challenge teams from the Rocky Mountain region will contend to secure their spot to compete in the National Competition at the Water Environment Federation’s Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) in New Orleans.

Operations Challenge is frequently referred to as "The Wastewater Olympics." Teams of four wastewater professionals compete in five events designed to test their skill, knowledge, and accuracy in the areas of process control, maintenance, safety, collections and laboratory. This competition showcases the best and brightest professionals at work today in the wastewater treatment industry.

Over the past few years, the excitement and awareness around Operations Challenge has grown both locally and nationally. On a regional level, RMWEA went from having one team competing to four teams competing in just three years. For a brief overview of RMWEA’s participation in Operations Challenge, check out the YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VR5FgSa0tio.

“It’s exciting watching the teams show off their skills and training,” said Ceila Rethamel, former RMWEA President. “The program is extremely valuable to our industry, and I am glad that RMWEA can continue to support the growth and development of professionals in the wastewater community.”
