Water Fundamentals - $450 (after Jan. 8th - $500)
Wastewater Fundamentals - $450 (after Jan. 8th - $500)
Lunches and Course Notebooks are not required but can be included for an additional fee. The course notebooks are 3-ring binders with physical printouts of the slide presentations that will be shown in class. Everyone registered will receive a flash drive of course presentations.
*Scholarship options are available (deadline to submit is January 10th, 2024) - Scholarships covering the tuition for one course of study in the Fundamentals School will be awarded to applicants employed by a town or municipality water or sewer district serving fewer than 3,300 residents within the Rocky Mountain Region. (CO, NM, WY)
Scholarships will be reviewed and awarded based on size of community served, location, and level of certification required for that entity by the scholarship review board.
The Rocky Mountain Water and Wastewater Fundamentals School is a basic, comprehensive overview for water and wastewater operators. The course is divided into two separate classes, one on water and one on wastewater. The course is designed for people who are new to the field or have been in it for only a few years. It should be beneficial to those seeking Class "C", "D", "T", and "S" certification.
The goal of the Fundamentals school is to provide education for operators, so they possess a better understanding of the water and wastewater fields. The courses are designed to furnish operators with basic concepts of how treatment processes work and the requirements of government regulations. The Fundamentals school curriculum also provides opportunities to prepare for either the water or wastewater certification exams. However, operators should not use the courses as their only study guide for certification exams.
Securing funding for critical infrastructure projects is often a daunting challenge for municipalities, utilities, and local governments. Join us for an insightful luncheon presentation on navigating Colorado’s State Revolving Fund (SRF) and the transformative opportunities presented by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). Representatives from key partner agencies—including the Water Quality Control Division, Colorado Water Resources and Power Development Authority, and the Department of Local Affairs—will provide a comprehensive overview of low-interest loans, grant opportunities, and emerging funding streams to support drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.
Learn about new BIL supplemental funds that target lead service line removal, emerging contaminants like PFAS, and disadvantaged communities. Discover how to maximize principal forgiveness, reduce interest rates through the Green Project Reserve, and leverage design and planning grants to enhance project feasibility.
Whether you’re planning your first SRF application or looking to optimize your existing funding strategy, this session will equip you with practical tools and insights to secure sustainable financing for your community's infrastructure needs.

Sean Oliver is a Project Manager in the Grants and Loans Unit of CDPHE. He has worked in the Water Quality Control Division for 5 years as part of the State Revolving Fund program to help fund numerous projects throughout Colorado.
Check-in at the site is from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm. The presentation will begin shortly thereafter.
Please arrive between 1:30 and 1:45 to allow time for parking, signing in, and finding a seat. The training will begin promptly at 2:00 pm.

The Innovative Water Technology (IWT) steering committee is hosting another exciting webinar covering recent advancements in tertiary treatment. This event will delve into cutting-edge technologies and processes available for tertiary treatment of wastewater, including secondary polishing to improve feed quality. Join us to explore some of the latest innovations, including coagulation optimization, XBAT (Ion Exchange-Based Advanced Treatment) and PdNA (Partial denitrification Anammox). We’ll hear about recent applications of these technologies from industry experts on January 8th via Teams. We hope to see you there!

Please join LPC for an afternoon of ethics! Evelyn Rhodes (City of Arvada) and Susan Oster (City of Aurora) will be leading a training designed for both operators and analysts that will provide an understanding of ethics in a laboratory setting (including recordkeeping and reporting), explain the importance and necessity of ethical behavior, and layout the elements of developing an internal ethics policy or statement for any laboratory or operational setting.
