This session will explore elements of professionalism and how they interact with the supervision process. We will explore some topics that are frequently discussed as perceived barriers to professionalism. Participant engagement is requested to allow for a discussion-based learning experience. 
 

Learning Objectives:

1.      The learner will be able to define professionalism.
2.      The learner will be able to identify areas of clinical practice that serve as barriers to professionalism between the SLP and their supervisee. 
3.      The learner will utilize reflective practice and identify strategies to teach supervisees to utilize reflective practice.

11:00-11:15 am Supervision Foundation
11:15 - 11:30 pm Professionalism- how is it defined and measured?
11:30 - 12:30 pm
  • Topics that may impact the understanding of professionalism such as:
    • Dress Code and Expectations 
    • Clinical Independence
    • Generational Differences
12:30-12:45 pm  Reflective practice- to use and to teach
12:45 - 1:00 pm  Discussion and Q&A


Presenters:

Klaire Brumbaugh; Financial disclosures- salary from Moravian University, Fontbonne University and Rocky Mountain University. A portion of my job responsibilities are to serve as the director of clinical education and teach a course related to supervision practices. Klaire has no non-financial disclosures to report.

$40 for KSHA members
$55 for non-KSHA members
Free for students who are KSHA members
