Participants will experience firing their own pieces using the reduction process of raku with the assistance of the instructor. Participants create 3 reasonably sized pieces from WS5 clay. Bisque the work, using yellow raku slips, or use terra sig (2 coats, polish, 2 coats, polish) on dry greenware for horsehair items. Then bisque them. For raku,paint 2 coats of raku glaze on items to be raku fired., and place on front window ledge until Sunday firing.   They can be flat items rather than three dimensional.  Weld any seams thoroughly to avoid cracking.  Kiln space is limited, so avoid wide items or limit yourself to one.

Bold beginners are welcome.  Proper dress required:  natural fiber clothing, arms, legs, toes and hair must be covered.  Safety procedures will be reviewed.
