Event Description
IWEA, ISAWWA, and CSWEA invite all water industry students and young professionals to participate in a morning of volunteering with the DuPage County Forest Preserve at Churchill Woods Forest Preserve on Saturday November 23rd. This restoration workday will include orientation, a safety talk, and a hands-on natural areas management project. We will work to remove invasive species using cutting tools (loppers and bow saws), disperse native seed to increase diversity in degraded areas or where invasive plants have been removed, and/or hand collect seed from native plants. The activities will depend on the needs of the County on that day. The purpose is to restore biodiversity and function to our native ecosystems. All are welcome to join us in this fun day of giving back to our local community!
The County will provide all necessary safety gear and tools for the workday, but you are welcome to bring your own work gloves if you have some available. Please dress comfortably for the activity and the weather. Dressing in layers is recommended. Long pants, sturdy shoes or boots, and long sleeves are recommended. Details of parking and meeting location will be provided closer to the event.
Each participant is required to fill out a waiver one week in advance of the event. WAIVER Forward to Meghan Drew (DrewM@bv.com)
Contact Meghan Drew (DrewM@bv.com) or Hanting Wang (Hwang@Donohue-associates.com) with questions.
